To help them get comfortable faster, we use targeted infrared (IR) light.&#xA;The idea is pretty simple: use a specific kind of heat to clear out the congestion around the tooth.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;How it actually works&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Think of IR lamps as a way to get heat where a standard heating pad just can&amp;rsquo;t reach. The light passes right through the cheek and jaw, warming up the deep tissues.&#xA;This opens up the blood vessels. More blood flow means the body can flush out the inflammation and gunk causing that dull ache much faster. We stick to the near-infrared spectrum because it digs deep, hitting the spot where the bone meets the tissue—which is exactly where the pain is hiding.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Getting it right in the chair&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;You can&amp;rsquo;t just blast a patient with heat and hope for the best. That&amp;rsquo;s a quick way to burn someone.&#xA;We use units with built-in timers and distance controls to keep things safe. The goal is to warm up the deep tissue without scorching the skin. We usually go with low-wattage, filtered emitters so the heat feels consistent and gentle, not erratic.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The &amp;ldquo;catch&amp;rdquo;&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;It&amp;rsquo;s not a magic wand. If a patient has a nasty, acute abscess full of pus, heat can actually make things worse by pushing the infection deeper.&#xA;Check for that first. If there&amp;rsquo;s active suppuration, put the IR unit away.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Setting it up&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;The best part for the clinic? These things barely take up any room. You can slide them into almost any operatory without rearranging your whole layout.&#xA;Just a couple of tips: make sure your power outlet is steady so the light doesn&amp;rsquo;t flicker, and keep your sessions to about 10 or 15 minutes. That&amp;rsquo;s plenty of time to get the job done without overheating the lining of the mouth.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
